How we created a new brand for INZUZO that combines art and wine for the benefit of a community
Founded in 2024, The INZUZO Wine Co. is a Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) company with a vision to uplift the local community of Sir Lowry’s Pass Village in the Western Cape.
Owned by the workers at Journey’s End, their purpose is to use winemaking to raise funds and transform the lives of members, and their families, for generations.
Barlow & Co. were pleased to partner with Journey’s End to design the brand identity for The INZUZO Wine Co., define their product strategy and tiering, and design the labels for the launch of their new wines for launch across retail and the on-trade.

Kaylin Willcott is the winemaker at the heart of the project, driven by a mission to use wine to transform the local community in Sir Lowry’s Pass Village; INZUZO means ‘benefit’ or ‘reward’ in Zulu and Xhosa.
Kaylin's story is integral to the heart of the brand. As a Cape Wine Guild protégée and one of the few women of colour winemakers in South Africa, her journey is a powerful narrative of talent and determination.
A true breakout star in the South African wine scene, Kaylin is determined to uplift her community as she gains her own success. 50% of profits from INZUZO go to fund projects that uplift the Sir Lowry’s Pass community – the first of which was a community arts project that inspired the label for the bottles.
“I am passionate about people and sustainability in the wine industry. I feel extremely fortunate to be in a position where my professional career and the desire to participate in outreach initiatives intersect.”
Kaylin Willscott, INZUZO Winemaker
The INZUZO Wine Company’s labels take inspiration from artworks around Sir Lowry’s Pass Village created by ‘Paint SLPV’ – a project that aims to uplift and empower its residents through community street art.
For the vibrant ‘Transformative’ range, Barlow & Co. selected striking graffiti artworks to appear full-bleed across the labels. The INZUZO brand logo, in a bold stencil font, fits with the street art aesthetic and allows the logo to sit boldy over the label illustrations.
The on-trade ‘Big Picture’ range uses colourful, abstract portraits from one of the many murals painted by Paint SLPV volunteers.
For the premium ‘Signature’ tier, crafted by winemaker Kaylin Willcott, a stylised SLPV graffiti tag continues the street art theme with a personal touch.
Across the range of new wines, from branded capsules to back label stories, Barlow & Co. have captured the colour and vibrancy of the Sir Lowry’s Pass Village.
Working with Rollo Gabb and the team at Journey’s End, along with winemaker Kaylin Willscott and the artists at Paint SLPV, INZUZO new brand that allows their character to be expressed through art and wine, and supports the local community.
