Capturing the spirit of RedLeg and bringing an icon out of its shell
Barlow & Co. refreshed the RedLeg brand and packaging to better improve stand out on shelf, communicate RedLeg’s Caribbean roots and celebrate the iconic crab icon.
After ten years of use, the RedLeg brand was feeling tired, not effectively communicating brand essence and with off-pack brand assets feel dated and difficult to use.
And with many spirit bottles sold in wire security cages, the dark RedLeg label was struggling to stand out on retailer shelves.
Named after RedLeg Hermit Crab, moving from one found shell to the next, this Caribbean native goes with the flow and embodies the spirit of laid-back island life.
Little Owl captures the freshness and lightness of a Greek holiday, with a timeless brand identity designed by Barlow & Co. to be eye-catching, easy to recognise and remember.

We worked closely with Artisan Group of Brands to define and develop the brand world for Little Owl for its launch.
From antiquity to the present day, the Greeks believe in making the time to share moments, memories and experiences with each other.
We captured this in the the brand ethos “Your next good idea” where Little Owl is always a wise choice for any occasion.
The Little Owl icon was created to be friendly and approachable, and the eye-catching labels were designed to be easy to recognise for customers unfamiliar with Greek wine.
The Little Owl character was hand-drawn based on timeless Greek characters and symbols. The label illustrations were coloured with with stylised Greek patterns and fresh, tasty colours, with each varietal having its own unique owl expression.
Designed for the curious and adventurous, Little Owl is the first wine Greek wine brand in the UK to focus on lifestyle and occasion.
Launching with a fresh white Assyrtiko and fruity red Agiorgitiko, we helped Little Owl capture the flavours of Greece through photography guidelines, art direction and social media templates.
